FreedomYou as has been selling juicers for 20 years now. We have not made a lot of money but it was great to see people juicing. Some of you will remember our very first juicer was the Braun. It looked like this. It sold for $100 and was a groovy little juicer for its time. But notice the small hopper. That demanded a lot of cutting of produce. It leaked, but not bad, and the pulp basket was very small so you had to dump it four or five times while making juice. Also the motor was weak so you where forced to push the produce in slowly. All this translated into long juicing times, which meant people where less likely to juice. There are still many inexpensive juicers on the market that are designed like the Braun.
After the Braun, we started to sell the Champion Juicer. This was great masticating juicer, with the added advantage of being able to produce nut butters and frozen smoothies. But again, a very small hopper, messy, and hard to clean. (If you have not read my article: How to Choose the Right Juicer you need to)
Over the years I saw a clear pattern. A high percent of people who where enthusiastic about juicing in the beginning, lost interest, and eventually the juicer ended up at the bottom of their cupboard or for sale on EBay. The number one complaint I received over and over is it took too much time to use. That is why today, my top criteria for the juicer I will recommend is:
“the best juicer is the one you will actually use.”
I think I have found two juicers that you are far more likely to use then any other I have tried. Both Breville juicer models I am going to recommend are excellent.
The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite is my personal juicer that I have used daily now for about eight years. It works as well today as it did when I first bought it.
The Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus is my “lender” juicer that I loan out to people who are thinking about doing a juice fast but are not sure they want to invest in a juicer. Again, you cannot kill these juicers. This is model that Joe Cross uses in his movie Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Great movie by the way. I used to sell and ship both these juicers but honestly, Amazon does a much better then I do with a great return policy and very cheap or even free shipping rates.
What are the difference between these two models? The Breville 800JEXL has a more powerful motor, and yes you can feel the difference. Also, it looks great on the counter. The catch basket is stainless steel and not plastic. Don’t get me wrong, the Breville JE98XL is a great juicer too. I would say if you think you will be a daily juicer and can afford it, get the 800JEXL. You will not regret it. But if you are on a tight budget and will be a more of a casual juicer, pick up the JE98XL. Ether way, you will be very happy.
